Hanna du Toit

After completing my B.Sc. degree with Physics and Geology as majors, I completed a Teacher’s Diploma course and then went on to do my honours degree in Physics at Stellenbosch University. I then achieved a Master’s degree in Medical Physics, with the emphasis on diagnostic radiation dosimetry at the Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town. After having taught Physics for three years at the Technikon Witwatersrand I moved into the IT industry, where I finally ended up as a Project Manager with Standard Bank.

My passion has remained with the combination of Physics and Geology, the effects of which one can see in the landscape all around us. Other interests include birding and travel, and I never travel without my binoculars, camera and geology book! I am a long distance road runner, having completed the Two Oceans Marathon a few times, and in the very distant past, also the Comrades Marathon. I love the outdoors and enjoy mountaineering, having climbed Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya, as well has having trekked to the Everest Base Camp. My photo shows me at the top of Formosa Peak, the big mountain near Plettenberg Bay.

I believe that if you put your mind to something, work hard at it and are patient, you will succeed!
